Too Comfortable

Imagine that you were naked, outside in the elements (pick your worst case scenario), and has not eaten or slept for a couple of days. What would make you happy? I would imagine at this stage, the luck will be a blanket, warm shelter, a bed and a hot bowl of soup. As he sat in his new found comfort and happiness probably could not imagine a better place to live in. Time to move on. In a few days of happiness begins to decline as you get used to their new environment and start looking for ways to happiness faktor.Bolji blanket, clothes, different food, a softer bed, preferably a place you could call her to you far more comfortable. You can find a job, more space, better food, furniture and so on. Time marches on, happiness is slipping down the rankings, a higher degree of comfort can be found in the windows, and we keep looking for more opportunities to get lucky. What is the problem?

Problem in South Africa, as stated in one of our newspapers is that debt is taking up 83% of workers' wages. We are a country riddled in debt because they have no idea how to deal with money, and we are constantly looking for ways to get happy and spending money belonging to someone else seems to be that way. I am no exception, and unfortunately it's my time to get wise, but we started a long time in rehabilitation, a real fortune (as a debt free), before and since then have reaped the benefits. I drive a 12 year old car (which is paid), which has done more than 315,000 km. I've sold my house and moved with his parents (it is always best to mom anyway, but they are building their own section on their property), and have just sold my bike because I cost too much for the amount of compensation they can get out of it. I have cut my costs in half since the beginning of this year. You know how happy I am! I still have some debt, but will be able to pay it back quickly to reduce costs.

people (and that includes me), and to be happy, comfortable and cool (when others admire our things), but we get confused about how to get there. If I find money to buy the newest product X (house, car, gadget), but it needs to go into debt to be sure, was subsequently luck factor is worth the balance in the amount of financial pain it will produce. In the beginning, as we use it (live in it, drive) is probably worth it (in our eyes), but as a long-term pain increases and decreases short-term happiness, it becomes less profitable. Its time to look beyond the pseudo-happiness of the new purchase and get real. Being debt free and affordable purchase items for cash is my new mantra. Comfort is not the goal. Debt free is more comfortable than a new lounge suite. God teaches us this principle for millennia, and as Christians it is time to listen.

RO 13:08 Let no debt remain outstanding ...

PS 37:21 wicked borrow and do not return ...

PR 21:17 He who loves pleasure will become poor ...

1TI 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly us provides everything for our enjoyment.

PR 22:04 Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.

Money and its use / abuse is one of the main themes in the New Testament. It is time to understand God's perspective and to live accordingly. If I'm up to my eyeballs in debt because of "frivolous" purchases, how will I ever be able to tenth (God help the church) or help others. God lent each of us what we need and it is up to us to begin to use it wisely. Let us apply what God has taught us, what makes a fortune and honor in our lives, " humility and the fear of the Lord ".
